Sometimes losing yourself is one way of finding it. does it make sense?

Note: this post is from my other blog, this was published on October 27th, 2005.
I took English 4 (Literature) last summer, i wasn’t really a big fan of Shakespeare’s sonnet..mostly because..i don’t understand what the heck he is saying! We were asked to do individual reports. Our teacher assigned us different sonnets to discuss and explain every single line of it. I was assigned to do "Sonnet 18" (see below)

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm’d;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature’s changing course untrimm’d;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander’st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou growest:
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,

So long lives this and this gives life to thee

the first time i’ve read it..i was like " unsa mani oi sobra ka laglom!!"..the day of my report..i came to class unprepared! The time I was called on to do the report..i just stood in front of the class..inventing the meaning of the sonnet…hehe..ulaw au!

Thanks to my teacher, she backed me up and got me out of that total nightmare!

Do you know what the sonnet means? hehe..just try! if dili jud can visit thist site! :p

Sa una ra unta ni nako nakit an nga site para wala ko naulawan! hahaay!!

This troubled me for quite a while now, I noticed that I feel tired easily, and my heart would suddenly pumped so hard I can barely breathe. This must be stress I said to myself. I can't deal with the endless pressures right now. Final exams, INC's, Thesis, Graduation. I feel like I'm going to explode. It's draining my energy. I need to rest. I am tired.

When one is terribly sad, one loves to watch sunset. I watched 47 sunsets yesterday...

"Poetry reformed. Poetry reformed." this was what the IPAG director (forgot his name) said on the opening of TULA TUGMA SA SAYAW AT DULA.

I was suppose to watch the play last friday night at 7:30, but because of my laziness I arrived at the mini theater around 8. The door was already locked and the usher told me, that I have to watch it the following night with a reminder to not be late or else I'll be locked out again. I was a little pissed and mumbling to myself. ("Do you know why there are so many people watching your show? It's because english teachers have made it compulsory for students to watch the show, If not because of the teachers no one would watch it").

Since it is compulsory I attended the following night. The aura of venue changed amy mood and my perception about the show. The venue was interesting filled with actors and actresses in different characters. A young poet on the show (again I forgot her name) also shared her views about being a poet. A little extra keenness in life is what makes a poet. Experience is the key. She also mentioned that in poetry when you throw a poem to a reading public, people tend to create their own interpretation of the poem and with that a poem grow. Some interpretations may even be different from what the poet intended. Every interpretation is correct as long as you have the basis for it.
I began to understand Poetry in a different sight. I have always regarded myself as an artist but at that night I realized that my understanding about art is only on the surface level. I've learned a lot by watching the show and finally said to myself I'm glad I watched it.

I was stunned when I saw the news yesterday that Filipino rapper Francis Magalona died because of Leukemia (nevermind the spelling not sure bout it)! He died at the age of 44..He looked young for his age..I didn't even know that he was sick. Well I was never really a fan of rap songs but I have always admired his love for music and for his country which is very evident in his songs. I hope wherever he is, he's happy and at peace. We will definitely miss you!

As expected the prom was pretty boring..So we decided to go home early. Before heading back to the dormitory I snatched a black balloon off the venue's ceiling and took it to the dorm. After a few chats in the dorm, I invited my dormates to make write their wishes and attached it to the balloon and let it fly and we did. We released the balloon almost 3:00 am!! We also wrote our cellphone numbers in case someone find it. When I woke up in the morning I was surprised that somebody texted me and claim that he got our balloon. We were even more surprised that he was from another region almost 2 hours away from us. Wow! our little black balloon sure did flew in great distance. We made a new friend in the name of Ran-Ran. Hope our little wishes come true! One of the best moments in my dorm!
